Late Dr. RM. Alagappa Chettiar, the philanthropist and visionary who changed the landscape of Karaikudi by establishing a galaxy of educational Institutions donated all his wealth including his home to bring primary, secondary and tertiary education to this rural community. He passed away at a tender age of 48 years in 1957. He established two trusts namely Dr. Alagappa Chettiar Educational Trust (ACET) that manages the schools and the Umayal Ramanathan College for Women in Karaikudi and the Asoka Charitable Trust (ACT) that manages the Chennai Alagappa School. ACT has a 80G Tax Exemption for your donations.
